He served as organist at St Margaret's, King's Lynn, then at the Italian Church, Hatton Garden (1898-1915), and then at the Birmingham Oratory until his death. He edited 'Music and Liturgy' (1932-36) and lectured on Latin church music at London University and Birmingham University. Much of his spare time was devoted to copying and collecting manuscripts of early church music and editing it for use. He died in Bromsgrove on 19 January 1941.
