Scope and ContentManuscript bound within a volume. Manuscript comprises transcripts of a report of the Committee of the Privy Council of 24 Jul 1724 and the ensuing Order in Council of 6 Aug 1724, both relating to William Wood's Irish coinage, with a copy of 'Mr Wood's Proposals'. [In 1724-1725 the British government attempted to impose a new and debased currency of copper halfpence and farthings on Ireland. Wood, an ironmaster, was given a contract the to strike the coinage. The volume into which this manuscript is bound is lettered 'Wood's Irish Coinage. 1724'. The volume also contains MS216 and the following printed papers relating to William Wood:
