Unable to fund a University education, she trained as a secretary and started work at the Warburg Institute in London in 1937. Warburg Institute's Secretary and Registrar from 1939 until her retirement in 1984. Although employed as an administrator, Meyer acquired a wide scholarly knowledge in her own right, particularly in relation to classical music and to the history of the Warburg Institute, and her scholarship, knowledge of four languages and editorial skills proved invaluable in the production of the Institute's journal and monographs. She was awarded an MBE in 1983 and became an Honorary Fellow of the Institute in 1984. Scope and ContentPublications, working papers and material on historiography and theatre history.
