Eick emigrated to Britain in 1939 where she became a domestic servant and nanny in London. From the early 1950s Eick started writing in English, both poetry and many notebooks of journaling. The latter helped her cope with being an outsider, both as a lesbian and a refugee. In 1963 Eick and her long-time partner Gertrud Klingel moved to Brixham, Devon, where Eick opened a nursery school for pre-school children. As historians became interested in LGBT lives under the Nazis from the 1990s onwards Eick was interviewed several times. Eick died in Brixham in 2010.
