He was an active contributor to the Victoria History of the Counties of England, which began in 1889. His most famous books were Geoffrey de Mandeville (1892) and Feudal England (1895). He also published numerous articles in the English Historical Review. Round was a staunch Conservative in his politics and canvassed for his cousin, James Round, in the parliamentary elections of 1885 and 1895.
