Scope and ContentPapers of Arthur Geoffrey Dickens (1910-2001), Fellow and Tutor of Keble College, Oxford, Professor of History at Hull and London Universities, and Director of the Institute of Historical Research, author and editor of books on medieval and Reformation history:
working papers, including typescripts of his 'Renaissance and the Reformation and Reformation in historical thought', bound volumes and folders of handwritten and typed notes, drafts and albums of reviews, offprints, pamphlets etc, some in photocopy, many annotated by Dickens, some correspondence (c1929-1992).
Original file titles created by Dickens have been retained as far as possible, and are indicated by inverted commas. Square brackets have be used to indicate titles which have been created by the cataloguing archivist, or where abbreviated words in an original file title have required expansion to make the title more immediately meaningful.

System of ArrangementThe collection had little original order, with files being placed in a random order in boxes. The arrangement has been imposed by the archivist and reflects the major activities of the creator. The fonds has been arranged into 8 sub-fonds shown below with their respective series:
