Scope and ContentLetters from family members sent to Ernst Philipp after he migrated to the UK in April 1939. They illustrate a close-knit family, supporting each other through emigration procedures, loneliness in the UK, and increasing hardship in Vienna.
Correspondents include: Ernst's mother Karoline Philipp nee Selinko and his sister Hella (Helena), who were both deported to Minsk and killed in 1941, his maternal aunts Marie Schlesinger who died of natural causes in 1940 in Vienna, Pauline Placzek who left for the U.S. in December 1939, and Fanny Reichl who emigrated to Australia in 1939, as well as his brothers Walter and Franz who arrived in the UK in July 1939, and his cousins Adolf Plazcek (who signs as ‘Toppy’) who left Vienna for London 28 April 1939 and continued on to the U.S. in May 1940.
In addition there are some postwar letters from Walter, a letter from Ernst's cousin Hans in Israel, and a CV for Ernst.
