Scope and ContentThis item consists of one complete script and pages 2 and 5 from what is probably three further copies of the script of this one-act play, 'Die Rückkehr' ('The Return') by H.F. Königsgarten, which was set in the living room of a Viennese home in 1950. The play was also known as 'Wiener Jause' (translates as 'Viennese snack at teatime') and depicts the reunion of family members separated by the war and now returning from different corners of Europe. The play was performed as part of the Laterndl's sixth Kleinkunst show, "Laterna Magica" in September 1941, when it was directed by Martin Miller. Hannah Norbert-Miller (HNM) played the role of Tante Flora, an aunt who had spent the war years in Paris. These copies may have also been used by HNM in 1973, when she played the same character in a commemorative production of the play at the Austrian Cultural Centre in London called "Das Laterndl - ein Blick zurück".
